"La petite mort" is a story about Pattaya. A town, which was still a small fishing village 30 years ago, is now a global sex-tourism capital and main travel destination for many Western men. There, they long to re-discover their youth as well as a bit of intimacy, love and sex.
Filip Skrońc, however, does not want to show only brothels, pimps, prostitutes and their clients. On displayed polaroid’s he seeks to capture the sensitive side of this Thai neighborhood.
The title is a reference made by one of the heroes in this reportage. Twenty-six years old Bob asked the author whether he knows how French call orgasm, after which he immediately provides the answer: „La petite mort. It means a little death”.
